Opposes NDIS Bill due to risk of social isolation and harm

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1006

Dear Madam / Sir My name is- and I have been a disability suppo1i worker for the past 7 years. During that time I have suppo1ied a number of NDIS pa1iicipants in an adult day service setting as well as more recently working as an independent suppo1i worker. I am writing to you to today to oppose the NDIS Future Generations Bill 2026 as announced as paii of the federal budget and tabled in pai·liament. I am deeply concerned about the proposed 50% reduction of social and community suppo1is. The adult NDIS paii icipant that I suppo1i (who requires 24/7 1: 1 suppo1i to keep her safe) recently had her social and community funding reduced by 50% at a plan reassessment and if the proposal goes ahead for another 50% reduction she will;

  • Be at risk of social isolation as she will have to remain at home.
  • Lose connections to her local community. I have been suppo1iing her for years to foster these connections.
  • Have fuii her strain on her infonnal suppo1is.
  • Display an increase of her self-haiming behaviours and damage to property, which is afready evidenced from her recent plan cuts.
  • Decline in her physical health as she wona.€™t have the suppo1i to attend hydrotherapy sessions. She is an ambulato1y wheelchair user and without the suppo1i will lose mobility.
  • Not be able to attend appointments, do essential shopping (such as picking up her medication).
  • Not be able to maintain friendships and visit family or friends. I urge you to oppose the bill so that the people we support ai·e not left without supports. Re ards
