Opposes bill due to risk of reduced supports and impact on mental health (Participant experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 104

Dear Committee,

I am an NDIS participant, and i am highly concerned about the new proposed changes. There has not been enough time to prepare, so please understand the fact that i am writing at all is paramount. My disabilities themselves mostly prevent this kind of action so take that into consideration.

I formally oppose the new bill.

Being on the NDIS has been a life-saver for me. Having the funding to continue my psychotherapy and having assistance around the home has allowed me to continue feeling human while my mind fights against me.

This new bill could mean that i won’t have as much assistance, or that I may even get removed from the system entirely, which is a terrifying thought. As a carer for my mother, we rely heavily on supports. If i don’t have my supports any more, i may not have capacity to care for my disabled mother.

I am worried about the impacts on my mental and physical health, if this bill should pass.

In its current form, please don’t pass the bill. I have been a taxpayer most of my life since age 14 and 9 months, and i want my tax dollars supporting people like me and my mother.

Please stop and listen to the pleading of many disabled folk such as myself. Australia has been paving the way for healthcare around the world. Please don’t let us turn into a mini USA.

Kind regards,
