Submission 1093 — Name Withheld — NDIS Future Generations Bill

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1093

The NDIS is my means to a life. Not just a normal one, a life in general. It means having a future. I owe my education to the NDIS. I owe the fact that my family is financially stable to the NDIS. I am so grateful for all that the NDIS has done for me. The changes are quite frankly terrifying. I am so scared my supports will be cut. That I will be deemed too “high functioning” when I still have a disability that impacts me so much I need the NDIS. I feel the changes don’t make sense. I think the NDIS needs help and change but I don’t see how punishing the participants will do anything about the actual problems like fraudulent service providers. The changes to me seem illogical and would benefit from extensive feedback. The changes have also been extremely poorly communicated. There has been no information on who will be cut or how. What the “standardised test” to get on the NDIS will be or if current participants will have to take it. Also what the social and community support cuts will mean. I have had to rely on my local senators to explain this bill because the government or NDIS has not provided any answers to the questions my entire community is asking and stressing over. These changes will mean I will become a burden to the people that aren’t ready for that. My family and my community will have to become my carers rather than my parents or friends. I will lose my independence. I will lose the life I am living and it is my community who will take that impact. Canberra healthcare already is overrun. Without social and community funding I will not be able to access the world outside my house. I will not be able to get further education. I will become more isolated than basic Australia already makes me. The world is built against people with disabilities, social and community supports provide people with disabilities the basic decencies everyone else can access easily. I urge the government to think about this. To make changes to the bill. None of this is a solution to the NDIS; it is just harming disabled Australians. I urge you to listen.
