National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1123
To Whom it may concern
I appose the NDIS bill. My name is the mother of a son with autism and I also have a visual disability. I am also a specialist in disability. My son has been receiving NDIS. NDIS has assisted my son to speak and gain some level of independence. Due to this support, my son has been receiving, he has been able to pursue studies, and his communication has improved. However, his support will need to be lifelong.
This bill in this form, is barbaric and is disgraceful for Australia as it is very third world like. This bill takes away choice and control from participants. In fact, prisoners in Australia get better treatment than people living with disabilities. Disabilities are lifelong and the minister has no knowledge of disability and how it impacts the life of a person with a disability and the carers of a person with a disability. They deserve the right to appeal inappropriate NDIA decisions. People with disabilities deserve the right to choose who their workers are. In my experience both professional and personally unregistered providers have given a better service. While registered providers have given a poor service and more so have not been fined by the NDIA when it was proven that they hid abuse to a vulnerable person in their[jg1] care. I will never understand how this one particular provider is still operating and was never fined in any way. Any assessments that need to be done should I only be done by people who specialise in disability and no one else. Not doing so would be like a person having a heart attack only being able to see a car mechanic rather than a doctor or cardiologist. Decisions should never be made automatically or by algorithms as people with disabilities need to be treated as humans and with respect. People with disabilities deserve to see specialist in disability rather than government with no degree in disability or knowledge in disability.
I wish for my details to be kept private.
Yours Sincerely
