Concerns regarding cerebral palsy and care team support (Family or carer experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1152

To the Senate Community Affairs Committee,

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed NDIS Future Generations Bill and to raise serious concerns about the broader changes being proposed to the NDIS.

As a member of the community who values the dignity, safety, inclusion, and independence of people with disability, I believe these proposed changes risk undennining the rights and wellbeing ofNDIS paiticipants. In paiticular, the refonns appeai· likely to reduce choice and control, resti·ict access to community paiticipation, and reverse impo1tant progress toward equality and inclusion.

I respectfully urge the Committee to protect the rights of people with disability and ensure the NDIS continues to uphold its original principles. Specifically, I ask the Committee to:

Reject proposed cuts and any measures that reduce oppo1iunities for social and community paiticipation. Guai·antee strong rights to review and appeal so paiticipants can challenge decisions that significantly affect their lives. Protect genuine choice and conti·ol, including the ability for pa1ticipants to engage providers of their choosing- whether registered or unregistered- while maintaining appropriate safeguards. I urge the Committee to carefully consider these concerns and not pass the NDIS Future Generations Bill.

I witness a deai· family friend hying to maintain her daughters dignity, social and personal needs as she was born with cerebral palsy and is totally dependent on her cai·e teain.
