National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1160

Submipend on on the NDIS Amendment Bill

Name:

I am a Disabled person

My main concern about this Bill is:

Losing access to funding that has helped me survive an array of disabilities and cancer. In the last four years my physical and mental health has declined significantly, if it weren’t for my allied health supports I would have no access to community, would have spent more time home bound. I would not have been able to complete a Tafe course and develop my skills and largely, I may not be here today writing this.

This Bill may affect me / people I support because:

 We need supports to survive, to live, this bill will result in many more deaths.  We need access to safe supports and this bill will strip this from us.  Significantly decreases in quality of life and our contribution to society will be lost if we lose our funds.  This bill, these cuts will result in crisis for everyone like myself, limiting access to meals, showers, accessing community, work and study, having any quality of life.

Already the cuts that have been slashed by allied health professionals has greatly decreased my capacity. I’m less mobile, I am less able to engage with studies and expanding my skills due to increased pain and distressed. I spend a lot of time plagued by suicidal thoughts because I fear and know I will be completely removed from the scheme or have my funds slashed. I am not coping with what is being proposed and what’s being said about myself and the disabled community.

What I want the committee to understand is:

I need the scheme to live, I need the scheme to have dignity in my life. I have very little natural supports and many are disabled like me. I depend on this scheme and losing access to it will eventually result in my death. I trusted this government to protect the scheme when labour stated they would protect us, this betrayal will cost many lives that have found a place in society.

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1160

My position on this Bill: I do not support it and I have serious concerns because the impacts of cuts have resulted in deaths and suicides which will only rise. Disabled people play a huge role in this society as do so our supports. For every dollar put into the scheme makes 2 it makes no sense and it is ruthless. Tax the 1% and protect the disabled community. Disabled lives matter. Disabled lives pays peoples bills and oppose this bill.
