National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1170
Dear Committee Members,
My name is , and I work within the NDIS as a Senior Peer Mentor at Empower Possibility Supports. Due to the short timeframe for submissions, I have not been able to provide the level of detail I would have preferred, however I felt it was important to voice my concerns regarding the proposed NDIS bill.
I care deeply about the NDIS because I have seen firsthand the positive impact it has had on participants’ lives. Through appropriate supports, I have seen people gain confidence, increase their independence, improve their mental health, and become more connected to their communities. Community access and individualised supports have allowed many participants to build meaningful relationships and participate in everyday life in ways that were previously inaccessible to them.
I strongly oppose the proposed NDIS bill.
I am particularly concerned about the impact these changes may have on participants who rely on consistent funding and supports to maintain their wellbeing and independence. Reductions to community access funding would significantly affect the participants I work with, many of whom depend on these supports to avoid isolation and remain active in their communities.
I am also deeply concerned about the increased powers being given to the NDIS CEO to make decisions that could reduce funding across the scheme. These changes create uncertainty and fear for participants, families, and workers in the disability sector. I worry this could lead to participants losing essential supports without proper transparency or consultation.
Additionally, I am concerned about the potential for widespread job losses across the disability support sector. Many workers are already under pressure, and cuts to funding would not only impact participants but also reduce the capacity of skilled workers to continue providing quality support.
The NDIS was created to empower people with disability and provide them with choice, control, and dignity. I urge the government to reconsider these proposed changes and ensure that participants remain at the centre of all decisions regarding the future of the scheme.
Thank you for considering my
