Lack of consultation and risk of neglect for disabled people (Participant experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1198

Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill Name: I am a: Disabled person

My main concern about this Bill is:

The lack of consultation with the disabled community and the ways in which this Bill will cause or lead to death of disabled people because of neglect and lack of access to adequate care.

This Bill will affect me / people I support because:  It will take away many disabled people’s access to the community and live their lives like everyone else, this ranges to life saving medical equipment and going to the movies.  It has not considered the disabled community in its planning, there is not enough consultation with Disabled people and support/carers in regards to this Bill.  These cuts clearly are targeting disabled people and NDIS recipients to stay out of public and a form of eugenics rather than an effective strategy for targeting organisations who actually abuse the NDIS. It violates human rights conventions  Use of AI to determine what NDIS recipients receive, many disabled people have multiple diagnosis and often can develop more conditions and changing needs throughout their lives, the use of AI, which resembles the disastrous robo-debt scheme. It does not allow change or any human adaptation, it lacks compassion and is clearly not with the input of medicinal professionals and disabled people’s.  One example from my experience (if you can): I have been disabled for years and finally received a diagnosis where I would have been able to receive NDIS to pay for the many expensive medicines and appointments i must take to live a life without severe 24/7 pain. However with this Bill i will not be considered “disabled enough” despite needing a mobility aid and constant medication to be without pain. As a disabled student I cannot afford the cost of being disabled and a student. The NDIS would have helped with this. My close friend on the NDIS will no longer have access to a support worker for as much time as he requires, meaning it is not safe for him, a person with high needs autism and seizure conditions to leave the house for long periods alone, without a support worker he is cut off from society and will be isolated and his conditions and mental health will be severe effected by this.

What I want the committee to understand is: This Bill is a disgusting form of hate against disabled lives, it is torture.

My position on this Bill: ☐ I do not support it Because: It is inhumane.
