Opposes NDIS bill changes risking social isolation

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1221

To the Senate Community Affairs Committee,

I am writing to register my strong opposition to the proposed NDIS Future Generations Bill and to express deep concern about the changes the Government is proposing to the NDIS.

As a community member who values the inclusion of people with disability, I believe the proposed changes are unjust and risk people’s rights, safety, and independence. These proposed changes would reduce choice and control, limit access to the community and place disabled people at risk of isolation

I respectfully urge the Committee to protect the rights of people with disability and to ensure the NDIS continues to uphold its founding principles. I ask the Committee to: Reject the proposed cuts and any measures that reduce social and community participation. Guarantee robust rights to review and appeal, so people can challenge decisions that affect their lives. Safeguard genuine choice and control, including the ability to use providers of one’s choosing registered or unregistered while maintaining appropriate safeguards.

Allowing these changes to proceed would risk returning to a time when people with disability were excluded, devalued, and too often neglected or abused.

While the current system is not perfect, it enables people with disability to participate, contribute, and be recognised as equal members of our society.

Please consider these concerns and do not pass the NDIS Future Generations Bill.

Kind regards
