National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1235
I am , I am a worker that supports and aids the disabled community as well as having many, young, dear friends who are disabled. I ask the Government to withdraw this bill, The National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026. I strongly believe that if this bill passes, it will be the direct cause of the lives of many Australians to be negatively and irreversibly affected.
My main concern about this bill is that it will cause NDIS funding to be more difficult to apply for, to be accepted into the scheme and once in the scheme, funds will be minimal or increasingly difficult to access. It is a vital part of any human life, to have health care access, to have a safe environment and to be in community. NDIS, when working as it should for the disabled community, supports the community to fulfill these basic needs. With the proposed stricter correspondence, timeframes, criteria, reviews and reassessments, it will bar many people who need and/or will benefit from NDIS support. Causing their quality of life to diminish, or in extreme cases, resulting in death.
Someone I know, who I work with and am friends with, recently cast in the main lead for their theater troupe’s next big production. They were simply over the moon with excitement, until their face dropped and told me, “Due to NDIS funding, I only have enough support to go out twice a week. So I won’t be able to come to place of work to volunteer anymore.”
I want the committee and Government to understand that this bill may “save” money, but it will cost Australia so much more. People will be unhappier. People will have higher stress. People’s lives will be made harder. People will be in more pain. People will live shorter lives. This bill should be making NDIS easier to access, not harder.
I adamantly am against this bill and ask the Government to withdraw this bill.
