Submission 1263 — Name Withheld — NDIS Future Generations Bill

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1263

To the Senate Community Affairs Committee,

I am writing as the mother and representative of my son, S , who is an NDIS participant with extremely high and complex support needs.

My son is completely dependent on others for his daily care, supervision, safety, and support. He requires ongoing assistance throughout the day and overnight due to significant functional impairments, behaviours, vulnerability, and risks associated with his disabilities. Despite this, we are currently involved in ART proceedings because essential supports are being questioned and reduced while providers and family are left carrying the burden.

The reality for families like ours is that funding uncertainty, delayed decisions, unpaid supports, and ongoing reviews are already forcing reductions to care arrangements that are necessary to keep vulnerable people safe. We are being pushed into unsafe situations simply to keep services going.

I am deeply concerned that the proposed NDIS Amendment Bill will further weaken the rights of participants and families by reducing choice and control, increasing restrictions, and making it even harder for people with disability to access the supports they genuinely require.

People need to understand that these decisions are not theoretical. They directly affect real human lives. When supports are reduced or delayed, vulnerable people are placed at risk. Families are exhausted, carers are burning out, providers are struggling financially, and participants like my son are the ones who ultimately suffer the consequences.

S goal is to remain safely living at home with his family and maintain stability within the community. However, this becomes harder every day when essential supports are constantly under threat.

I respectfully ask that the Senate Community Affairs Committee carefully consider the real-world impact these changes are already having on families like ours and not pass the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current
