National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1304

My name is

I have two children who are participants in the NDIS, and I am deeply concerned about the changes this government is proposing to make to the scheme. I am writing to oppose the new bill. As a parent, I am extremely concerned for my children’s future.

I ask the Committee to listen to the families of people with disabilities and take into account our lived experiences when considering these changes.

My children have the right to participate safely and without risk in the community. All of this will be put in jeopardy by the proposed cuts to the NDIS.

These proposed changes will have real-world consequences for families like mine. Without adequate NDIS supports, children with disabilities risk losing access to therapies, social supports, and community participation opportunities that help them develop independence and feel safe in everyday life. Families are already stretched emotionally, financially, and mentally, and reducing supports will only increase pressure on parents, schools, hospitals, and the broader community. These cuts will not remove the need for support — they will simply shift the burden onto families who are already doing everything they can to care for their children.

• I implore the Committee to reject or amend the proposed cuts to social and community participation supports.

• Ensure that people with disabilities have the right to a review process and that the Minister does not have the power to cut funding without the right to appeal.

Kind regards,
