National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1369
The NDIS Bill – changes to the bill
People already in the system who are going to get kicked off and reduced funding
I feel that if you are going to take people off the NDIS, there needs to be systems in place to support and accommodate their needs. There also needs to be a reason for why a person no longer gets NDIS and it needs to be in writing. There also needs to be opportunity for these people who are kicked off to reapply if their disability gets worse.
Reduction to a person’s plan for social activities.
I feel that people are entitled to social activities. Some people need help to attend the movies, go fishing etc. People on NDIS who need support to do these activities should be able to do them because these social activities keep us going as humans.
My Story
I am worried that I am not going to meet the new NDIS eligibility. I have Cerebral Palsy that affects my hearing, walking and other stuff. I am worried that if kicked off the NDIS that my needs will increase as I get older and I will need to reapply. I also feel that having NDIS supports decreases my chance of hospitalization with falls and other stuff related to my disability.
I live with my husband and two adult children (when they are home). As part of my Cerebral Palsy, I have fatigue levels that I have to manage. I find that with the help of NDIS supports I am able to do things in the community. I volunteer twice a week at Knox Info Link doing their administration for NILS (No Interest Loan Scheme) applications. I also find that with my NDIS supports I am getting around my community without falling.
So, at the moment, I have a cleaner once a week. A support worker for two to three hours a week, a physiotherapist or AHA once a week. I have an orthotist who looks after my orthotics and AFOs. Without these I would not be able to function in the community, give back to my community through volunteer work and enjoy life in general.
I am worried that with my husband’s wage I am so close to being cut off from the Disability Support Pension. If I am cut off, who is going to pay for my hearing aids?
Also if I get cut, who is going to pay for my AFOs and orthotics?
My Thoughts on NDIS Change
National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1369
I do not like the thought that the minister for NDIS will have as much power to stop people’s plans in the process. I believe this is a step back for the disability community as a whole and I feel that the government is trying to push this legislation through without the public realising what it entails. I also feel that people with greater disability needs than me will experience more changes to their life.
