To the Senate Committee,

I am an autistic adult and NDIS participant. I am writing to express mymy concerns about the NDIS Future Generations Bill 2026, particularlythe statementthat: code block: “Funding under thenationalDisabilityInsuranceScheme shoulebe usedefficientlyandthedistributionofschemefundingacrossparticipantsasawholeshouldbeequitable,havingregardtosimilaritiesinneedsandcircumstances.“WhileI understandthetimportanceoffairnessandsustainability,iamconcernedthiswordingcouldleadtoautisticpeoplebeingassessedtoo broadlyagainstotherswiththesamediagnosis,ratherthan asindividualswithdifferentlevelsofnneedandalldifferentlife circumstances.Autismpresentseverendifferentlyfrompersontoperson.Two autisticeoplemayappearsimilaronpaperbutfunctionverydifferentlyindaily life.Sompeopelareabletowork,studiorycopesocialonlybecausetheyalreadyhave supports inplace.If funding decisionsbecomefocused oncomparing participants toothers with”similardiabilities,t hereisarisk thatimportant supportscouldbereduced simply because someoneappears toe coping better than expected.I askthenCommitteetoensure thendIScontinuestoasses people individually andrecognises thatequitablesupportdoesnot always mean equalsupport.Disabled peopleshoulndotloseessential supports becausetheydonotentfitneatlyintoacomparisongroup.
