Submission 1476 — Name Withheld — NDIS Future Generations Bill

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1476

Dear Committee Members,

I am writing as an NDIS participant to express my concerns regarding the proposed changes to the NDIS.

I live with a significant physical disability and require 24/7 support in my daily life. The NDIS is not a luxury for me. It allows me to safely live at home, access personal care, maintain my health, and have some independence and quality of life.

I understand the importance of making the NDIS sustainable and addressing fraud within the system. However, I am concerned that broad changes to eligibility and supports may negatively impact genuine participants who rely on the scheme every day.

One thing that has worked well for me is having choice and control over my supports. I currently use sole traders for my support workers and have not experienced major issues with this arrangement. In the past, I experienced significantly more problems when using larger support companies, including inconsistency in care and difficulties with communication and reliability.

Having the ability to choose my own support workers has greatly improved my quality of life, stability, and overall wellbeing. I would be concerned about any future changes that reduce participant choice and control or make it harder to continue using support arrangements that are working well.

Consistent support workers and reliable funding are extremely important for my wellbeing and safety. Reductions or restrictions to supports could place disabled people at greater risk of isolation, declining health, hospitalisation, and loss of independence.

I ask that the Government carefully consider the real life impact these changes may have on people with disabilities and ensure participants are properly consulted before major reforms are introduced.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my feedback.
