Re: Submission on the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment
I am writing to formally voice my deep concerns regarding the proposed changes in the NDIS (Securing the NDIsS) Bill.
Through my daughter’s work as an occupational therapist ( t), it is clear how vital their services are, as they provide essential skills needed daily activity supports. The proposed legislation threatens these resources with significant budget reductions:
- The Proposed Cut to Capacity Building Supports: Reducing funding will restrict participants’ access to necessary therapy; such cuts would increase reliance solely passive care settings. Threats Workforce Sustainability: Occupational therapists operate under rigid structures inadequate travel reimbursements reflecting reality delivering care, particularly regional or community settings. Failing support means OTs forced out of sector leaving vulnerable without professionals relied upon. Full Support OTA ‘No OTs No NDIS campaign’. Without properly supported fairly funded OT workforce cannot achieve its core legislative goal fostering participant independence and choice. Urgent Committee reject proposal cut capacity building instead focus establishing national allied health pricing strategy securing future generations.’
