National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission: Submission No.
To Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs:
Submission to the Inquiry into National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (
(Securing the NDIS for future generations)
Summary: I am concerned about how [the specific amendment] will significantly impact quality-of-life issues related specifically to the Minister’s ability to reduce or stop funding under Section s4a(3).
About Me: An NDIS participant.
My Concerns About This Bill: The new powers granted in Section S4A allow the Minister to terminate support without an appeal procedure which is a significant concern as it may lead me being unable to continue my studies or employment due to reduced or stopped NDIS plan services.
If My NDIS Plan Is Reduced Or Stopped,
- I won’t be able to work because of having around ten hours per week with no NDIS plan;
- I can’t complete current study, studying counseling diploma; and there’s insufficient supply of therapy/counseling leading sector needing more qualified people if I finish this course then I could add value here by contributing skills needed within that field;
- The other main point concerns survival - barely surviving now! Greater NDIS support might give hope one day thriving!
Recommendations:
- Parliament should not pass bill (Section S4A);
- Restart reform process after consulting properly disabled people & carers; * Minster shouldn’t have power cut funds from NDIS plans without appeals required for such decisions affecting individual participants’ lives significantly negatively.
