National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 1746

Dear Review Panel, I am writing as an early career Occupational Therapist with a mixed paediatric caseload including children with autism, developmental delay, psychosocial disability, and neurodevelopmental differences.

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 1746

The concern about access gaps will grow longer as more children become eligible under the new policy. Families who cannot access public services — which includes many low-income or rural/remote areas where there may be fewer service providers available than before—will have even less options when they need support now, as well as over future years of eligibility expansion. The gap between those with good access versus those without it has been widening since the scheme was introduced in Australia’s capital cities; this trend continues today due to changes made recently, such as increased funding levels that were not sustainable long-term because they did not account adequately for inflation and other factors affecting costs like wages growth. For early career clinicians like me, the concern is different but connected to these issues: I am building a caseload while developing clinical skills at my workplace; it depends on being able consistently work alongside kids so I can see how therapy works out across months & years—and develop strong therapeutic relationships—which make our jobs effective! a funding environment that disrupts continuity care does NOT just affect families—it affects development next generation clinician too! What i’m asking here: Recognize those working reforms genuinely caring people serving them. Hope perspective someone early their career close family navigating system daily useful addition conversation thank you sincerely time consideration giving submissions Yours Sincerely Office Phone 0489-088665 Email Alyssa@leapfrogtherapy.co m.au Occupational Therapist Website www.leapfrogtherapy.com.au
