All three of our children have suffered trauma and challenges with the education system due to their disabilities and their needs being unable to be supported by their schools. Due to this two of our children now home educated We evidence educational failing families like mine not descend into crisis Disablity is burden Support right Support stops families live failure another -NDIS- meant supporting disabled children The proposed dramatic concerning terrifying legislative changes will directly impact disabled people families These changes increase distress pressure on families mine Legislative changes lead families disabled people into crisis harm Transfer from NDLS gendered choice labour cost risk Women majority carers care work both paid unpaid legislation strengthen inequity bias against women Without funded individualized support lose safety autonomy choice control Right self-determine shape lives As woman child I isolated largely invisible life Taking away necessary supports family further burnout crisis Say reality day-to-day My having appropriate support validates and supports me parent carer Provides kind lifeline alone witnessed seen as a family struggles survival Concerning regarding functional capacity assessments automated systems Standardised assessment tools fail recognise respond disabled women girls especially those complex dynamic or masked disability presentations All my children myself mask heavily world response

Often our challenges and our struggles are only evident in the privacy at home amongst safe people and spaces. Strangers and systems do not have the insight nuance to identify our challenges and struggles.
