National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 180
I have ME/CFS, dysautonomia, Osteogenesis Imperfecta and depression. Currently rely on the NDIS to be able to work and function at home, as one among those who qualify under Section DSS due my partner’s income being ‘too high’ even though would both live off his alone if were to do so individually; having chronic fatigue that allows me just enough energy either run a business or maintain household chores but I can’t manage doing two tasks simultaneously; having support workers every five days coinciding with second day-off within three-on-two schedule; unable physically working more than consecutive-three-day period without crashing needing sleep majority next few days also funded gardening services counseling each month about moving into property requiring extensive wheelchair accessibility modifications. Terrified may become part of people kicked from scheme. Without these supports will threaten ability earn an income which threatens paying housing medications food bills etc., been suicidal over years mental health severely risk should this cut help managing condition genetic degenerative bone causing fractures secondary joint issues arthritis means lower body injury wheel chair won’t shower toilet move around home without modification endanger further attempting things without them. The new changes permanence definition concerns as conditions permanent no known cures governing body medical degrees making decision permanently concerned abhorrent changes never suggested first place consideration most vulnerable communities country have told cuts kill us already died best advocate financial perspective overarching reason done cutting the NDIS needs disappear because you cut support for them what happen is disabled like myself able work tax money disappears their support worker’s taxes when don’t take our medication eat shower be safe in homes and community inevitably end up public health system taking unnecessary beds neglect injuries far costly correct prevent them Public Health System overrun rest population affected might believe easy saved by denying support to disability Community however fact hemorrhaging money healthcare billions lost due tax revenue.
