National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 1801
NDIS submission
What does the NDIS mean to me right now?
- Access for my neurodivergent child to capacity building supports, to help them grow up to be the best version of themselves they can be.
- Having trained professionals that my child has developed a rapport with over an extended period of time provide structure, care and support outside the home.
- These same professionals liaise with my child’s school so ensure they get assistance needed to stay engaged and interested in learning.
- Seeing changes due to professional supports funded through NDLS; family unable to afford such levels otherwise given current wages/costs.

having to travel away from home to attend treatment, which also impacts schooling, ability to make money to work in order to help their person or themselves.
- Not overlapping funding across different disabilities: Really? Do they think people can just switch off parts that don’t meet thresholds? What happened with holistic care—seeing whole persons instead of specific conditions?
Automating eligibility will cause big issues: When someone has needs fitting into neat boxes, do they forget about other aspects entirely when applying services day-to-day? How fair is this process where you need evidence costing thousands repeatedly over time again without support needed daily at home? Do neurotypical folks understand what application processes look like defending your own needs? I doubt them!
Am I satisfied changes explained enough: The government tries sneak through key points leaving out much affecting current and future participants: disability providers choice lost; right appeal gone carte blanche cut funds oversight ignored more.
Changes mean me family friends community?: Possibly watching child not access supports desperately needing grow function world job change income career life; family changing how do things depending on support provided child; other child missing opportunities due lack adult availability reliance informal supports lacking many; potentially loss freedom independence both inside outside the home relying others informally for NDIS supported reasons.
