I am writing to you with my concerns about coming changes to the NDIS and wanted to contribute thoughts regarding your consideration of ‘Thriving Kids’ under this scheme as well as other aspects related thereto, as I have been an advocate passionate towards inclusion for all individuals throughout over four decades within various professional capacities including retired educator and principal where I’ve had first-hand experience achieving successful outcomes for former students, family members & friends alike through inclusive education practices which has enabled me professionally:

  • In the 1970s: Participant involved foundational research at Mt Lawley CAE on literacy/numeracy curricula specifically designed around special educational needs;
  • During the 1990s: Led implementation Special Education Programs(SEP) in Gladstone Region particularly Biloela SS wherein we transitioned segregated units into regular classrooms supported by collaborative leadership teams fostering inclusivity via explicit instruction coupled alongside behavior management programs involving multi-agency support ranging from medical professionals up until therapists; resourcing early childhood development programs(ECDP) whole-school frameworks documenting processes used statewide guides.` Leadership: Advocated successfully implemented inclusive practices across each school appointed to.“

I wish urge consultation many parents children diverse needs prior making decisions consider some experiences thoughts possibly investigate use exciting varied assistive technologies now available independent autonomy those need.
