National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 1853

What does the NDIS mean for you right now?

Right now, the NDIS is a lifeline for our family. I am a full-time carer to three children, including one child with severe needs and another with additional needs. The support we receive helps my children access therapies, build skills, participate in t heir community, and do things that many other families take for granted. Without the NDIS, we simply couldn’t afford the support they need.

How do you feel about the proposed changes to the NDIS Act?

I’m worried. There seems to be so much uncertainty, and as a parent and carer, that\nis scary. My children’s needs don’t disappear because rules change. The thought of
elosing supports or having to fight even harder to access them adds a lot of stress to an already challenging situation.

Do you feel these changes have been explained clearly enough?\No.I still don’t fully understand what the changes will mean for families like mine. There

is \a lot o f information but not al ot clear answers ab out how everyday people w ill b e affected. That un certainty makes it difficult t o plan fo r th e future.

Submission 1853 For our family, the NDIS isn’t about extras. It’s about giving my children the support they need to participate in everyday life and have opportunities that other children\nare often able to access without thinking about it. The supports we receive don’t just
help my children, they help our entire family function.
