National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1924
Dear Committee Members,
I write to oppose the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026.
While I support the long-term sustainability of the NDIS, I am concerned that several provisions of this Bill risk reducing access to essential supports and increasing uncertainty for participants, families, and carers. In particular, I oppose provisions that expand ministerial and administrative powers without adequate safeguards, restrict participant choice and flexibility, and create barriers to accessing necessary supports.
The proposed changes may disproportionately affect people with complex disabilities, psychosocial disabilities, and those requiring early intervention supports. I am also concerned that the Bill does not provide sufficient clarity regarding review rights, transparency in decision-making, and consultation with the disability community.
The NDIS must remain grounded in the principles of dignity, independence, inclusion, and individualised support. Reforms should strengthen the Scheme through genuine co-design with disabled people and their representative organisations, rather than limiting participant rights or access.
I urge the Parliament to reject this Bill in its current form and undertake broader consultation with the disability community before proceeding with significant legislative changes.
Thank you for considering this submission.
Yours sincerely,
