National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 1986

My submission details:

  • Type: Disabled person My main concern about this Bill is:

This bill does not serve the disable communities best interests and is being passed as quickly as possible without input from the community itself. These are unrealistic and stressful expectations to place upon a community that is already struggling. This bill is harmful to a vulnerable community and is taking advantage of the fact good portion disabled community cannot advocate for themselves.I ask that Government withdraw this Bill

How might it affect you?

The following points may apply if you have any disabilities:

  • I experience long periods where communication becomes difficult due my disability.
  • Support isn’t always available when needed on behalf myself.
  • Changes could result in abuse against participants, with LACs having their word over them. One example from your own experiences: In regional areas support can be hard come across; LAC will simply go no contact at all during these times. As mentioned above, it’s important understand how changes impact disabled individuals. The disabled community often has difficulty reaching out; time limits lead mental or physical harm.
