National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2001
I am writing as an extended family member of someone with a significant disability , someone I love deeply, someone whose life has taught me more about strength, vulnerability, and humanity than any policy document ever could. I have watched them navigate a world that is not built for them, relying on support for the most basic parts of daily life. And I have seen how much courage it takes to trust others with that level of dependence.
The NDIS has given them and so many others the chance to live with a full life. To have routines that make sense. To build relationships with support workers who understand them .To feel safe in their own home. To be part of the community instead of hidden away from it.These things matter. They arethe difference between merely survivingand actually living. The reformsin this bill frightenme.I urgethecommitteto: Reject cuts toc ommunity participation funding, because connectionisnotoptional. It isthats keeps people hopeful grounded, andpartoftheworld.Guarantee meaningful appeal rights because no one should lose essential supports withouta fairchancetospeakupandeheard.Preserve genuine choiceo f providersbecause tru stispersonal The relationshipsp eoplebuildwiththeircarerscannot bereplacedbyarosterorapolicychange.Ifthisbillpasses, the consequencesitwouldputalldisabledpeopleat risk.As afamily member ,itisbreaks myhearttothinktha t progress we’ve madecouldbe undone.Weanotallowpeopletobe pushedbackintothesha dows.Every persondeserves th ec hance tolive w ith dignity, safety,an dbelonging.Kind regards,A concerned extended family mem ber
