National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2007
To Whom It May Concern
I want to start by saying that the scheme needs to be sustainable and fraud eeds to be addressed. Does this need to be at the expense of those who genuinely need this support.
I have three adult children on the scheme under the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder level 2. Two of these have other disabilities which are not recognised by NDIS. We lived in Northern Rivers of NSW where services and help are not always readily available as compared to say a major city. I have been the one providing support the best I can for all three which can be quite challenging. This has been more so since the government announced these changes from diagnosis to functional as well as the removal of 160,000 participants.
For a lot of people with disabilities an approach of one fits all does not work. I have been asked to figure out how the recognised NDIS disability of my daughter affects her day to day life - how is this possible when there are multiple disabilities that go hand in hand to make up a whole. Having said that, then all diagnoses’s and functioning should go hand in hand when deciding what supports a person needs. The Government hasn’t really do not have people’s interest at heart; they just look for ways to balance their budget overspending. People living outside cities struggle getting appropriate supports due long waiting lists being unaffordable sometimes, What about politicians taking pay cuts showing Australian people care? Rich get richer while poor become poorer – definitely not Australia way! Ppl w/ disabilties need support & feel safe without fearing dark future. Thank you.
