National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 2028

Dear Committee Members,

The new NDIS bill that the government is proposing to make law is cruel, frightening, dangerous and deeply concerning to me. I do not believe the changes have been explained clearly enough, and I do not support this NDIS bill.

I was born with cerebral palsy, and my disability has been very challenging throughout my life. I now need to use a wheelchair, and I struggle daily with my mobility while trying to complete everyday tasks. I experience fatigue, exhaustion, pain, and ongoing mobility restrictions that impact my daily life.

I require support with daily living activities and accessing the community for important therapy sessions, medical appointments, shopping, and social activities. I would not be able to do these things without the support of my providers and support workers.

The NDIS has been an important support for me by providing funding that allows me to receive support both at home and in the community. Having trusted support workers is extremely important for my safety, wellbeing, and independence. It is very concerning that people in the disability community may lose choice and control over their plans if this bill is passed.

You build trust and strong relationships with the support workers and providers you choose to have in your life and in your home. That trust is vital and extremely important. Losing that stability would be devastating and could threaten the safety and wellbeing of myself and many other NDIS participants.

The proposed changes in this bill are also concerning my family, friends and carers because they could affect my safety, wellbeing and ability to continue receiving support at home and in the community. Making major cuts to community access and social support is very worrying.

Reduced funding would restrict my ability to attend important medical appointments, therapy sessions, shopping, and social activities with the assistance of support workers. Without this support, I would become isolated and lose important social interaction and community participation.

Cutting funding for capacity building support would be disastrous because my mobility could decline further without ongoing therapies and support workers. This would negatively affect my quality of life and reduce my ability to improve and maintain my independence as much as possible.

I value my support workers and the support I receive because they help me live a valued and meaningful life and allow me to function each day. If my funding was reduced or cut, I would lose access to the important support that I rely on every day.
