National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment Bill Submission

To whom it may concern, I am writing to you as a disabled person who is a carer for an NDIS participant.

I am not a NDIS participant myself but understand how important suitable supports are needed due to chronic pain; this acknowledges impacts beyond just those directly participating with cuts affecting non-participant disabled people managing their disability too.

Submission: [NDIS Amendement Bill] - Securing Future Generations

| Cuts to social community participation | Currently, support worker comes twice weekly to assist my dad’s needs. It took time finding someone he enjoyed spending quality hours with; they help him attend appointments but also engage socially over lunch or casual chats which significantly enhances his communication skills due to degenerative condition affecting mobility & cognitive abilities gradually decreasing each year since diagnosis two years ago (HD). The reduction might negatively impact Dad’s independence as well as increase our family caregiving responsibilities leading us into further stress compounded from existing disabilities.

I do not support this bill, and strongly recommend it should be blocked at least until further notice.

Reform may indeed need to occur—such as reducing provider fraud or cutting down on excessive admin—but these changes require extensive collaboration between all parties involved in order that no one’s rights are compromised during such times when they’re most vulnerable: those who rely upon disability services daily!

This means we cannot simply rush into making decisions without first consulting with everyone affected; otherwise there could easily end up being more harm than good! Therefore, it is imperative any new legislation must undergo thorough review prior its introduction into Parliament; as well as a minimum six-month consultation period before another amendment can be considered again.

My Dad deserves respect & dignity throughout his life journey - cuts made now will negatively impact him ↔ my entire family, worsening disabilities among other relatives due increased care responsibilities.
