National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2050
I identify as a person with disabilities, and I also have a child with a disability. I wish to speak to the proposed amendments about reducing funding for specified groups of supports. It seems like more thought is given to protecting the interests of billionaires including those exploiting our country’s natural resources), corporations, rather than the most marginalised among us.I think it is fundamentally disingenuous for this government to be removing literal lifelines from disabled people at a time when our futures never been bleaker. We are regularly forced watch while our government ignores fact wealth inequalities grows every day.It doesn’t seem right without listening community properly knowing disabled people their loved ones often least power. My toddler was recently approved an NDIS plan.He has diagnosed Global Developmental Delay because considered severely delayed all measures He wonderful child neurodivergent parent prepared possibility child thinks learns differently But remains he needs extra help support compared other children his age - that okay! His NDIS funds vital supports allied health speech therapy occupational therapy feel extremely lucky access however now fear could taken away discussions capacity building putting responsibilities back onto parents considering repercussions family already reduced earning capacity spend more time due additional needs fortunate can cherish together struggle low income if suddenly expected become therapists ourselves worry will burn out both husband wife severe ADHD treatments we luck enough make work not everyone so lucky Cost living crisis life rented house cards If add one thing endless list extra responsibilities carers disabilities themselves face things come tumbling down once breadwinner do foresee being able save secure future unless supported develop independence have told strong likelihood permanent disability just want tools give everything he needs.
I am concerned disproportionate impact changes the NDIS women When stops funding, needs of disabled disappear know caring responsibilities unequally split many cases where funding available adequate typically women find burden someone spends lot invested feminist advocacy ways unequal labour further entrench inequality for women girls gender diverse individuals on domestic and family violence lived expertise policy advisory

committee. At a time when misogyny is rife, it is irresponsible of the government to contribute to removing women’s economic independence, which typically happens when women're expected \to adhere-to traditional “gender roles”. The NDIs should consider additional funding towards services helping parents function-in-a healthy way- what you-don’t see-is-the constant burn-out some families face.-It-s hard keep functioning home and feed yourself properly-When your child-your priority-Things-like domestic support work cleaning-services respite-care could benefit-families-and give them energy to perform disability-related care tasks more effectively-The NDls should also consider those-of-us who are both-disabled AND carers-disabled people-we-face-additional challenges,-and while ADHD-not-supported-on-NDis-(which very frustrating)-this-iswhere model funding-for-respتاب/auxiliary supports-help us-function all together-could-bevery beneficial. We struggle-executive function which pronounced-stressed or otherwise unable meet our own needs.I have seen recent media reports-shocking decisions-parents made-around ending children’s lives -while never condone such actions-these sickening yet desperateactions will become common if funding stripped.Almost in Australians currently-have disability-yet only small proportion even on NDISThose often faced-indignity-needs questioned-by without medical other relevant training-despite providing evidence.Rhetoric-media coverage surrounding changes-Budget has been infuriating fuelling existing ignorance-from Aussies lucky enough not need the NDSY anyone can-become disabled at any time.Media seems complicit furthering misguided narrative that NDI money goes directly into pockets of people with disabilities-or theircarers-I regularly disgusted by ignorance repeated general public corrected press leadership assume get assessed particular amount funding-can basically go lavish holidays-This obviously case but feel government happy communicate this-effectively benefit less outrage times like pushback. On topic fraud-it would make sense enforce stricter regulations providers-limit ability profit-Profit systems exploited don’t matter heart things. There should more oversight-excess could saved instead cutting from those absolutely need it.Even tiny percentage participants deemed fraudulent is collective punishment remove services everyone else result-complexities approval first place-wary assuming-fraud participant just random politicians making-decisions about disabled people’s-lives-don’t know full story individuals-agree-cutting back reassessments especially cases permanent-disabilities where help always needed.

These proposed changes have brought genuine terror and fear into the lives of people who are already struggling to cope in an uncaring society. I feel like nobody is listening, yet I have relative privilege. I can get by, supporting myself through family support and English being my first language; even though basic daily living tasks may still present challenges due to these difficulties: worry about those disabled individuals capable but supported at work via their own personal carers; doubt how they’ll manage financially without such assistance; carry concerns regarding single mothers escaping domestic violence or abuse returning out of necessity because maintaining housing becomes unaffordable while balancing additional caring responsibilities; fear children’s potential lack opportunities showcasing talents worldwide; almost all worry that this signals exclusion from societal norms globally; hopelessly question how many will perish as rich nations fail adequately supporting citizens alike? Finally, believe insufficient time has been allocated towards publicizing inquiry details properly affecting Australians with disabilities (or caregivers thereof). The community lacks adequate preparation resources despite both groups’ involvement therein; is shocking considering our limited capacities often hindering effective communication efforts; others report poor accessibility provisions initially impacting submission processes negatively; apologize for not having sufficient time to express fully intended sentiments; do so anyway fearing it won’t be heard effectively; rather invest energy nurturing child hoping government values him sufficiently too.
