National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 2063
Dear Senators and important people.
I have a twin boys, born at 26 weeks gestation, who are disabled and medically complicated. They are about to tum 14 years old, one appears to be high functioning, the other relies on a wheel chair for mobility and an eye-controlled computer for communication. Both are ve1y clever and love being included in “nonnal” social activities with other kids of their age. However, they both require different levels of help to be able to do so.
Both boys have amazing senses of humour and a level of cheekiness that can make the whole room laugh out loud. Their charisma and their energy is felt be all around them and we (us the parents) work hard to keep them included and connected, because this is not something they can achieve on their own.
The new NDIS bill before parliament now will take this from my boys. It will remove by at least half, if not completely, their ability to enjoy and entertain their peers because it proposes to reduce suppo1t funding for community access and capacity building. These are two ve1y important areas for our boys and for us to continue to show them they are impo1tant members of our community.
It is not ok for politicians to simply discard/trade their (my boy’s) lives because they don’t fit a “BUDGET”. They are loved by their collllllunity, the are impo1tant too.
Please reject the bill in its cunent fo1m and continue to suppo1t their growth as real people, paiticipating in real life, in real jobs, keeping real people in jobs and paying taxes like eve1yday Australians.
If this bill passes, its not just my boy’s lives you ai·e changing, its the people who work with them, its our family and our ability to function in the community, it our work, and our ability to pay taxes. It has a massive flow on effect.
Please vote against the new NDIS bill
Kind Regards,
