National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2066
Dear Committee Members,
I am writing as the parent of a highly dependent 17-year-old autistic son to express our deep concern regarding the current NDIS Amendment Bill. Please do not pass the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current form. We are extremely worried that the proposed changes will remove important rights, reduce genuine choice and control, and ultimately harm people living with disability and the families who support them every day. Our son relies heavily on consistent, individualised supports to safely participate in daily life, learning, community access, and future planning. The flexibility currently available through the NDIS is critical for families like ours. We fear these amendments will make it significantly harder to access the supports that genuinely meet his needs and will place more stress and uncertainty on already overwhelmed families. The NDIS was created to support dignity, inclusion, and individual choice. Any reforms should strengthen these principles, not weaken them. We ask that the voices of people with disability, carers, and families be properly heard before changes of this scale are implemented. Please reconsider the Bill in its current form and ensure any amendments protect the rights, wellbeing, and futures of vulnerable Australians. Thank you for taking the time to consider our concerns. Kind regards, Western Australia
