Submitted By Sharon Dymock Date May Publication Consent To This Submission Being Published With Name My name Is Sharon Dymock i Have Known And Supported JocelynE A Woman Living with Congenital Rubella Syndrome Over Years During That Time I Witnessed An Extraordinary Transformation When First Met She Was Still Quite Traumatised Significant Behavioural Mental Health Challenges After Having Spent Much Of Her Life Moving Through Institutions Foster Care Environments Over Years Consistent Support Stability Compassion Access Appropriate NDis Funding Jocelene Has Achieved What Many Once Thought Impossible Now Lives Independently In Own Home Operates Small Business Participate Meaningfully Community Developed Skills Confidence Emotional Regulation Greatly Improved Quality of life Progress Did Not Happen Quickly Easily It Built Carefully over many years right supports place I Am Deeply Concerned About Proposed Changes to ndis particularly anticipated reduction socia and community participation funding These Supports Are not Optional extras They Foundation Enables her maintain independence emotional wellbeing safety connection Removing these risks leaving isolated up hours week without assistance which could undo progress serious risk regression including self harm My greatest fear is that changes will force jocelyne backwards into crisis, medication institutional dependence social isolation after hard work build meaningful productive life strongly urge decision-makers consider long-term human cost proposed changes devastating impact they have on & others similar situations
