Disability support worker opposes NDIS Bill (Provider experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 2092

To the Senate Community Affairs Committee, I am writing as a disability support worker to express my strong opposition to the proposed NDIS Future Generations Bill and the broader changes being proposed to the NDIS. Through my work supporting people with disability, I see every day how important the NDIS is in enabling people to live with dignity, independence, and meaningful connection to their communities. The support provided through the NDIS allows many people to participate in everyday life, maintain relationships, pursue goals, and exercise choice and control over their own lives. I am deeply concerned that the proposed changes risk undermining these outcomes. Reducing supports, limiting access to community participation, and restricting choice of providers will have real and lasting impacts on the people I support. These changes may increase isolation, reduce independence, and place additional pressure on families, carers, and frontline workers. I respectfully urge the Committee to protect the rights of people with disability and ensure the NDIS continues to uphold its founding principles. In particular, I ask the Committee to:

  • Reject proposed cuts and any measures that reduce social and community participation.
  • Guarantee strong rights to review and appeal so participants can challenge decisions that affect their lives and wellbeing.
  • Safeguard genuine choice and control, including the ability for participants to choose providers that best suit their needs, while maintaining appropriate safeguards. as someone working directly within the sector, i believe these proposed can be seen as a redaction: s24 - irrelevant material
