Submission on the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment
I am writing to formally voice my deep concerns regarding the proposed changes in the NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS For Future Generations) Bill 2026. I submit this as deeply concerned citizen and parent of practicing occupational therapist who works directly with participants every day.
Through daughter’s work, she sees firsthand how vital occupation therapy is; therapists do not just provide service but give participants skills needed live independent lives safely meaningfully!
Incredibly alarmed at following aspects legislation recent budget decisions:
- The Proposed Cut Capacity Building Supports: Reducing funding daily activity supports by % will restrict access essential occupational therapy teaching people become more expensive reliance long-term passive care settings; Threats Workforce Sustainability Occupational Therapists already operate under rigid structures inadequate travel reimbursements reflect reality delivering care particularly regional or community settings failing support allied healthcare means OTs forced out sector leaving vulnerable without professionals they rely upon.
Supporting OTA’s No OTs No NDIS campaign properly supported fairly funded workforce cannot achieve core legislative goal fostering participant independence choice urging Committee reject 10% cuts capacity building instead focus establishing national pricing strategy secures future generations. Thank you for considering submission.
