National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2111
Hello,
Thank you for the opportunity to make a submission on the NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026.
I strongly oppose the bill. It requires major amendments if the originally-stated intentions of the disabled support scheme are preserved.
OVERVIEW This bill does not address key causes such as ’rort’ing or fraud committed against disabled people by companies; it fails to secure future funding streams within this program;
it merely targets easy-to-control individuals rather than corporate providers who may have been engaging with fraudulent practices involving public money intended specifically towards those needing assistance due to disability conditions.
I DO NOT SUPPORT - loss review rights & making it harder for participants when needs change re-assessed
- treating people like machines more via having computers make life-changing decisions 50% cut in social community participation funds from October, year unspecified S34A giving power one person can cut funding new functional capacity test reassessment all participants starting next year “all appropriate treatments” test
I DO SUPPORT · NDIS Ombudsman will investigate complaints and failings independently of NDIA
· Actual investigation into participant’s own concerns · Continued rollover fund payments · Protection plan self-management: whilst being managed myself, some other users had their managers approve services that were never delivered. Self-managed plans reduce admin fees waste prevent provider rorting system billing for non-provided services ensuring sufficient funds available for most effective supports aiding normal living lives disabled people need. · Maintaining social/communities support funds · Staff actually reading OT etc functional capacity assessment reports which required NDIS funds writing instead current ‘tick-and-flick’ approach

- Assessment assessment of requests for plans reviewed manually rather than through formulas. The process is currently ‘check-the-box’, as per personal observation; having machines handle these evaluations would likely exacerbate issues further,
- Restoration & Strengthening Appeal Rights: The suggested modifications could potentially result in outcomes similar to those experienced with robodebts. Participants within this scheme face significant vulnerabilities; it’s crucial not merely punishing individuals but also focusing on rectifying service delivery problems which might otherwise cause their condition worsen.
