National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 2117

Dear Committee Secretary, My name is redacted, and I am the mother of a 26-year-old autistic NDIS participant. I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the proposed Future Generations Bill that will soon enter Parliament. As a full-time carer, the uncertainty surrounding these changes is causing enormous stress, fear, and anxiety for families like mine. Parents and carers already carry significant emotional, physical, and financial responsibilities every single day. Many of us have sacrificed careers, financial security, personal relationships, social lives, and even our own health in order to care for our loved ones with disability.

Independent review would make it increasingly difficult for vulnerable people and their families to challenge decisions that might dramatically impact their lives. Vulnerable Australians deserve compassion, fairness, proper individual consideration, and systems recognizing every assessment as a human being behind them.

I am a single mother who works full-time just so we can keep up appearances at home while providing stability for my son; if funding cuts proceed they’ll affect us in ways forcing me out from work because caring him fulltime becomes necessary!

Respectfully ask:

  • Rejecting bill until meaningful consultations held w/NDIS participants/families/carers/disability comm;
  • Protect high & complex support needs;
  • No participant loses essential supports keeping safe well;
  • Maintain genuine choice control over NDIS participation choices;
  • Right of appeal preserved affecting participants’ wellbeing;
  • Clear transparent info provided about reforms on existing participants/families affected.

Careful consider real-life impacts these changes may have. The Future Gen’s Bill risks undermining core philosophies: Choice Control Transparency Person-Centred Care. People with disability need security dignity fair safety opportunity live meaningfull within communities Families carers deserve heard respected properly supported not left fearing future loved ones. Thank you taking time considering concerns very real impact this bill has most vulnerable members community sincerely hope read letter compassion understanding stand families mine call greater consultation before passed.
