Submission regarding the proposed NDIS changes and “Thriving Kids” transition

To whom it may concern, I am writing as a parent and someone who has experience supporting children and families to express my concerns regarding the proposed NDIS amendments and the transition toward the “Thriving Kids” model. as a parent of a child with additional needs, i am deeply concerned that these changes risk creating a more generalised one-size-fits-all system that does not adequately recognise individual developmental journeys of children every child develops differently supports need remain flexible dependent on unique needs rather being restricted broad eligibility assumptions or standard pathways. my child complex support needs impact daily life emotional regulation communication transitions participation everyday environments access early intervention ongoing supports essential development family ability cope maintain routines participate community thought reduced access delayed intervention uncertainty around eligibility incredibly distressing already navigating significant challenges.i also concerned lack clarity surrounding what Thrive kids will actually provide qualify services delivered whether supports consistent across different areas Families need certainty transparency particularly when rely continuity care established therapeutic relationships inexperience children disabilities autism sensory challenges emotion regulation difficulties delay often do fit neatly rigid systems removing reducing supports long term consequences only child parents carers schools broader community Early Intervention should become harder accessible evidence consistently shows timely leads better outcomes additionally concerned voices parents carers therapists educators disability professionals appear genuinely centred throughout process directly impacted decisions should meaningfully consulted before major structural changes implemented NDIS Early Childhood Approach designed tailor preventative appropriate strongly urge Government ensure reforms continue uphold principles replacing may unintentionally create barriers vulnerable children families ask government reconsider proposed direction amendments undertake further consultation families and professionals proceeding.
