Her NDIS plan helps her maintain social connectedness, gain living skills, enable meaningful life through various activities such as attending therapy appointments when needed. Georgia stays on top of household chores each day thanks to help provided by support worker who also assists: in weekly exercise programs; doing home exercises;and participating regularlyincommunity walkingprogramsas well other enjoyableactivities she enjoys.Geoagia’slifehasbecomeenrichedthroughtheNDIS.Shehassblossomedintoanengagingyoungwomanwithmoreconfidencebecauseofit.The transition from schooltoadultlifewasanotableperiodfor young people witheCriduChatsyndromefamilies.Theproposed amendments tonoise would undermine supports that makeameaningful adult lifepossible.I am very concerned about proposed5% cuttosocial community participation funding.For young adults with Cri du Chat syndromesocial and community participationfundingisnotdiscretionary.It funds structureddayactivitiessupportiveemploymentprogramsthatfillhourspreviouslyoccupiedbyschool-andthat are critical for preventing regression isolation crisis supporting good lives valued members our communities GeorgiacurrentlyautomaticaccessNDSIperson diagnosed genetic condition.Proposalfunctional capacity reassessmentallparticipantsfrom 208onwardscreatesrealuncertainty.Cri du Chatsyndromepermanentwill not improve Requiringreassessmentwithoutclearprotectionspeople established lifelong conditionsunnecessary disruptive potentially harmful Iamworriedthecuts will directly impact Georgia’s physical mental wellbeing negative way know need stayhome more worried lose valuable social connections throughsocialgroupslikeStellaexperiences asGeorgiastrugglesto meet maintain friendships independently.
