Submission re: NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
If I didn’t have NDIS I would have to die. I couldn’t work, dSP doesn’t pay well; couldn’t afford counselling; couldn’t afford cleaner or guy who mows grass; can’t manage these tasks myself if possible: it’s painful every day as age advances; NDIS provides a Support Coordinator helping with paperwork & communication plus an OT explaining why unable on my own support from mother aged 71; she’ll likely pass away leaving me homeless without NDIS options due cuts in funding; other ex-husband left after abuse revelation; had threats against Quality Safeguards Commission regarding food/water during bedridden state post disc rupture but he started providing care when told of his actions through NDIC counselling which helped survive him before divorce leading loss home and hopelessness about finding housing even sharing roommate mum because can’t afford it, almost certain homelessness; The council has breached human rights of local homeless people per Supreme Court verdict. Lived here most life surrounded by unfriendly areas towards homeless individuals making becoming homeless while managing multiple disabilities terrifying prospect where community and council will target me resulting doubt lasting long enough public housing waiting lists huge escape domestic violence asked friends for shelter all said no “like their space” tried trading sex for accommodation now none exist punched neck. No longer socialize meet anyone stay at mom’s only go out medical appointments shopping necessities groceries too much pain to venture further Before rules changed attended woodworking group learned confidence back funding changes prevented return deteriorating mental physical health isolation stress. Being disabled is horrible hard life would be worse w/o the NDIS couldn’t survive reading proposed amendments watching videos others read legislation scared know disability means not normal never been won’t be Scared removed from entire system despite needing support cannot live without it scared slashed funding same effect other disabled people our struggles trivialized turned against us looked down on as an NDIS participant getting worse pressure put my mother already does so much struggling she’ll die soon what happens? She’s key emotional advocate. Proposed changes focus primary disability ignoring secondary ones more issues since starting with NDIC new changes reflect these I’ll lose essential supports become even more painful current supports stabilize slow decline can walk mostly now left wheelchair fight medical system help refused due affordability or lack of public care intervention high risk future disability some days accomplish things before could do minor cooking skills without those moments need expensive complex supports also heard autism being

targeted as a condition that isn’t significant and/or isn’t permanent. I don’t understand why Autism is present within your brain which controls all aspects of body function. The statistics regarding autistics are quite grim.Unemployment rates among Autistic individuals exceed typical levels.Risk factors include higher instances of abuse.Life expectancy tends to decrease, and comorbidities associated impact both physical health and mental well-being.When growing up,I observed ‘autism didn’t exist’,especially amongst girls. It did indeed.Instances where others turned on you due to perceived differences were common.I’ve been assaulted numerous times simply because I looked different. This seems strange given autism’s status as being considered invisible but people recognize my uniqueness leading me to face negative treatment.Aside from medication used effectively against ADHD when taken initially caused horror and anger since it revealed how easy it was compared with those without such conditions.Counsellors often recommended deep breathing exercises or self-talk strategies aimed at managing anxiety, which they deemed ineffective until taking ADHD medications then these methods suddenly proved effective. There exists no equivalent pharmacological intervention addressing similar issues in autistic populations.Nobody truly comprehends our daily struggles living under this disability. Now we’re informed otherwise;that the issue lacks significance or permanence.Such an outrageous lie.If someone swapped bodies for just one day between themself and a person diagnosed with autism, the results would be horrifying. We NEED help.
