National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment
Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Bill 2026 Submission: [Submission Number]
I am a 38-year-old participant in the NDIS scheme since its inception year.
One aspect that concerns both myself and those within our families are limitations imposed upon funding necessary service utilization such as speech therapy, occupational therapy & physiotherapy due high costs associated with these treatments; as per the provisions outlined under the aforementioned legislation, caps on available funds would barely suffice covering even small portions thereof.
Additionally there exists current stipulations regarding timeframes allocated towards reassessment processes conducted via agencies managing individualized support plans; specifically, it currently takes merely twenty-one days whereas according to new proposals contained herein, such procedures will extend up until ninety one (91) day duration thereby eliminating any potential avenues pertaining appeals or revisions based urgency/risk factors involved directly impacting case outcomes.
Furthermore, proposed reductions concerning anticipated participation numbers from nine hundred thousand down to three hundred thousand individuals expectedly participating between years two-thousand thirty onwards may significantly affect my family but not providers themselves without adequate oversight mechanisms established independently of existing regulatory bodies like the NDIS commissioner’s office responsible solely supervising audits regulating improving standards offered by respective service suppliers. The bill should be limited only participants while also extending protections encompassing provider interests alike ensuring fairness amongst all stakeholders concerned.
