National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2260
I am a participant on the NDIS and there are people I care about who are participants on the NDIS. I strongly oppose the new NDIS bill because it will continue the stripping of human rights and the ability to live a decent normal dignified life from disabled people. This is a step towards returning to the times of people with disabilities being institutionalized or having such low quality of life that death becomes preferable. Having NDIS means I get to be more independent from my parents and it supports me to have a life that is worth living. It means I do not have to choose between having an autistic meltdown because I have done too much, or having mouldy dishes in the kitchen. It means that I have the capacity to work part-time and maintain friendships. It means my basic needs for living can be fulfilled; thus, I don’t need to decide which necessity must take precedence over another since doing all myself isn’t possible—despite wishing otherwise—and wouldn’t require reliance upon difficult traumatizing government systems if this support were absent then no good options would exist at hand, My physical mental health risks significantly without these services leading into perpetual states distress exhaustion. Additionally worried mandatory registration of support workers as autism LGBT multiple medical conditions mean losing choice control home safe place devestating further negatively impacting wellbeing continuing unsafe uneducated service harm than none help needed There’s nothing mild about ‘mild’ Autism. The bill current form harmful punishes disabled people governments lack planning oversight when made NDLS Lastly boosts economy humane true economical basis cuts funds nuclear submarines but not live taxes meant society reflect care most vulnerable Have heart please Disabled deserve future #NothingAboutUsWithUs
