Urging against passing ‘securing the NDIS for future generations bill’
I speak as an advocate on behalf of someone who has autism, ADHD & PDA aged eight years old. The daily life here can be incredibly difficult; heavily reliant upon support provided through the NDIS system, as such I urge you NOT TO PASS THIS BILL! These new laws don’t secure but rather end up replacing it with something entirely different in terms disability support systems which could have negative impacts not just my daughter’s well-being ut also that of other Australians living under similar circumstances. Hereby highlighting three major concerns:
- Removing reasonable and necessary supports: My daughter requires tailored therapies based specifically her needs; it’s essential she receives constant reassessment regarding what works best suited towards her specific requirements.
- Reducing choice over our supports: It took us many years to find suitable options ensuring safety while reducing harm—this is crucial if we are unable provide choices then risks will arise leading down a path where they shut themselves out completely or even worse regress further than before.
- Potential removal from NDLS due significant permanent disability - She relies significantly OT (Occupational Therapy), Psychologist services etc., these help immensely allowing access into better quality lives. If removed this would mean losing vital therapy needed at great cost beyond income levels available making them ineligible for continued care altogether thereby denying their rightful treatment deserving thereof.

The government wants to target fraud but says they’ll cut off about 160,000 participants. This isn’t targeting fraud; it’s targeting people with disabilities, targeting those finding life very challenging.
