National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 2447
Dear Senators,
I am writing as the father of a 22-year-old daughter who lives with autism and mental health challenges.
Our daughter requires ongoing, significant daily support. As her parents, we are committed to her care and wellbeing, however this responsibility has substantial and ongoing impacts on our family, including our ability to maintain full-time employment and long-term financial stability.
The NDIS plays a critical role in supporting our daughter to participate in the community, develop independence, and maintain her overall wellbeing. It also provides essential support that enables us to continue in our caring role.
I am concerned about the proposed changes to the NDIS and the potential reduction in supports.
In our experience, the current level of support is already carefully balanced to meet essential needs. Any reduction is likely to: • Increase social isolation for participants • Limit opportunities for independence and skill development • Transfer additional care responsibilities back onto families
In the longer term, reducing access to appropriate supports may lead to increased demand on other systems, including healthcare and mental health services.
Like many parents, I am also concerned about the long-term future of my daughter and her ability to live safely and with dignity as we age.
The NDIS is a vital support system that enables people with disabilities to participate in society and reduces the overall burden on families.
I respectfully ask that you take these impacts into careful consideration when reviewing the proposed changes.

In addition, I am employed by Cornerstone On Demand. I lead their Skyhive AI powered Skills Passport that I believe could be a fabulous solution to significantly bring efficiency to the NDIS by ensuring training and support is targeted directly, specifically and measurably to learning and employment goals for participants.
If my daughter had access to a platform like this from school that would connect her, providers, potential employers and training entities with her evolving skills and goals her transition from school into the community would be enriched significantly.
I would love to volunteer my time to assist in any way to bring technology to help address the current NDIS challenges.
