Parent opposes Bill due to impact on child's well-being (Family or carer experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 2470

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the proposed NDIS Amendment Bill.

As a parent of a disabled child, I implore you not to pass the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current form. Doing so will significantly and unreasonably reduce essential choice and control for participants and ultimately result in negative outcomes for disabled people, their families and communities.

The proposed cuts—including restricted eligibility & reduced funding for social and community participation - will strip away the fundamental supports people with disability in our community rely on to live meaningful lives.

We are a family with a disabled child who has recently been making positive progress largely due to access to the supports that are proposed to be reduced. To withdraw such supports will, without doubt, be incredibly detrimental to our child’s well-being and to our family overall, as the impact of disability reverberates through families.

The cumulative effect of the Bill across the community will, in my view, have profound and perhaps unintended consequences.

I urge you not to pass the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current form. Please.

Kind regards,
