National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2570
To whom it may concern,
My name is Sarah and I am a very concerned community member. I am concerned about the cuts to the NDIS and the many people whose lives will be significantly negatively affected by the proposed Bill. I wholeheartedly oppose the new NDIS Bill.
I care about the NDIS because I care about my community, and ensuring my community members, friends, and family have the support they need to ensure appropriate quality of life. Every single person in this country should be able to access the support they need, in the way they need it.
It does not make sense to have automated decisions and algorithms determining whether people are able to access the support they need to function. It makes no sense to have no opportunity for individual appeal in response to those automated decisions. Human needs require human consideration. There is no one type of support that will be appropriate for all people with disabilities. Every person with a disability has unique needs which require unique solutions.
People should be trusted to know the support they need and the most effective method of getting that support. Humans with expertise should review those requests, and if a more effective or efficient support measure does exist, then that should be suggested in consultation with the person who requires the support.
This Bill will cause harm and cost lives. This is not what we stand for in Australia.
I want the Committee to recommend opposing the Bill.
