National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2636
Submission for Inquiry into NDIS amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill, 2026.
To whom it may concern,
As a parent and carer of disabled children, it is difficult to even muster up the energy to write this. Please acknowledge that for each person that writes a submission, there are many more who don’t have the energy (or ‘spoons’) to do so. We are struggling as it is, and the proposed bill will make life harder for myself, my family, and so many others in the disabled community.
-
The NDIS has helped my kids, through access to therapies and support workers, to be able to live a better life.
-
We would not still be here if it wasn’t for the NDIS. This proposed bill puts lives at risk.
-
I am concerned that young disabled kids will be worse-off without access to the NDIS, without the support that we have had (even with the proposed ‘mainstream replacements’)
-
Social and community supports are an essential part of life. Disabled people have a right to do what non-disabled people do, like walk their dogs, go shopping, have a job, go out and see friends. Reducing this puts a major risk on disabled people’s mental health and relationships.
-
I am concerned that undergoing a plan reassessment will be even more difficult than it already is, and we won’t have a voice to appeal.
My biggest concern and disappointment is about how the government views and treats disabled people. It is clear that making these proposed changes would mean that disabled people are not valued or respected as human beings.
I urge you to reconsider.
