Concerns about NDIS funding impacting disabled people's access to care (Family or carer experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 2740

NDIS

My main concern about this bill is that more disabled people will wrongly and unfairly die when they don’t need to. In my opinion, cutting NDIS funding is eugenics in action.

The bill may affect me and people I support because I am a human being who cares for other people including the disabled community. I am my Mum’s carer and I have been for over half my life. She is on the NDIS which has given her more support and access than I could ever do for her. Without NDIS my Mum will have less care, less support. She will not be able to access the community or to participate in activities that she wants to.

What I want the committee to understand is that it is already hard enough to navigate the world while being disabled let alone with extra steps, higher expectations and more administrative work making the NDIS inaccessible for many. Every single person is deserving of support and access to be a part of society and this world even if they can’t work full time and pay taxes. They are still worthy in our society.

My position on this bill is I do not support it and I have grave concerns regarding the disabled community and soon-to-be disabled community which is anyone and everyone.

The NDIS supports are important to me. It’s gives people the support they actually need. Whether that’s personal care, house care, pet care, errands including medical appointments, access to the community, social interaction. Disabled people deserve to live full stop and with dignity and autonomy alongside us in society
