NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for

Future Generations) Bill 2026 – Senate

Submission

This is art I have made about the NDIS Bill. I will explain how it links specifically to the Bill. Thank you for considering my submission.

“Death of 160 000 cuts” Minister for the NDIS Mark Butler has now updated the numbers to say that an estimated 240 000 participants will be removed from the NDIS. At the time I am submitting this, there are no foundational supports. There is an expression “death of a thousand cuts”. It means that a person might not die through one terrible action, but lots of little hurts. Some people on the NDIS need someone with them 24/7 to keep them alive, and if they lose that support they die. Many other NDIS participants do not need the NDIS for their survival over a minute, or hour, or day. However I am sure that removing support from 240 000 people when there is nothing in its place will lead to worse lives for these people, including premature death for some.

“NDIS should keep disabled people safe” How does each section of this bill increase safety of current NDIS participants and all people with disability?

“Disabled people belong in the community” Under s34A, any area of funding could be cut with Social, Community and Civic Participation named. People have the right to be in their community and part of their community.
