National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2813
Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill
My name is . I have a disabled daughter who is a current NDIS participant.
My main concern about this Bill is the negative effect it will have on those who lose their funding due to the proposed cuts. It feels like the government has taken the “easy option” of reducing the number of participants rather than investigating the companies/individuals rorting the current system.
This Bill will affect my daughter as if she loses funding for her current supports, it will be difficult for her to engage in standard day-to-day activities. Her supports help her with house chores, meal prep, attending appointments and generally just living. The loss of her funding will mean a loss of her independence. She will find it difficult to engage in her studies, find work, and hold down a job long-term. She will also need to rely on family and friends to take on the financial, physical, and emotional responsibilities that her current funding helps support.
I want the committee to understand that this bill will have far-reaching negative implications that will affect not only the disabled community but also those who work in the disability sector. If the number of participants is reduced, the impact will be life-changing for those in need who lose their funding. This will also affect the NDIS providers who will lose clients and therefore risk losing their jobs in these much-needed support and allied health positions.
I do not support this bill and recommend that it be scrapped.
Any future changes to the NDIS should be undertaken with input from the disabled community and those who strive to make living with a disability safe and accessible for all.
